Makeup Brands

Hi, friends. Today I will post about the different brands you might found around the globe. The brand will be separated as drugstore, high end and luxury.

How do I decide which brand is under "drugstore", "high end" or "luxury" category?
There are brands that are more expensive than others, specifically those by name or origin or packaging. If almost all the foundations (and other products) that a brand offers in different lines are less than $20 dollars I'll be taking it for a "Drugstore" makeup, if it's from $20 dollars and less than $50 they will be "High End", and above $50 the brands will be considered as "Luxury". (According to USA websites).
There are some brands that can be only found online or through Amazon or eBay. And also, there brands that offer only limited options of makeup (e.g.: lips and eyeshadows only) and some extend their business into skin care as well.
Another brands con only be found as a "By catalogue" brand, most of them will be considered "Drugstore".
I will attach their websites so you can know them in depth (if possible).

The list is long and there are many more I don't know or never heard of (for being new to the market) or I simply didn't remember it by the time I wrote this. If you know any that's not on the list, just let me know the brand and I will try to find information about it.
Brands that are Skin Care (and only have a couple of "Makeup" related items, such as bb creams) and Nail Polish brands won't be considered in this post. They will have a post on their own, eventually.
Tell me your experiences with any brand, either good or bad (please don't skip details, something I like in any story), although if you had an issue with an specific product I'd like to know your age range at the time of the issue, you skin type and skin tone (undertone if needed).
Remember even if we have the "same" kind of skin, our skin will be different and products may apply different too; the techniques used is also important as so the individuality of our face.

Hope you enjoyed it. See you on the next post!

*Can be found in Argentina, but the products that the brand offers are limited from their permanent collection.

Makeup (products). Part 2: Eyes and Lips

Welcome. This is the second part of the makeup products post. The previous post was about everything for the face; today will be products related to Eyes and Lips.

Eyes:
1. Eyeshadow Primer: with this the eyeshadow you will apply on top will last longer and will stay in place.
Where to apply? All over the lid and just under the brow bone/arch.

2. Eyeshadow: provides life to the look. There are different techniques and styles to choose from. The eyeshadow should be found as "single" eyeshadow, or as duos, trios, quads, etc., or palettes. An eyeshadow can be matte, shimmer, satin, metallic, duochromatic (they change into another color depending on how the light reflects on it), some are pure pigments; it can come in a powder, cream or liquid form, among others. There are hundreds of colours to choose from.
Where to apply? On the lids and sometimes under the lower lashes.

Single eyeshadow
Eyeshadow Duo

Eyeshadow Trio

Eyeshadow Quad

Eyeshadow Palettes (Five eyeshadow palette)

Eyeshadow Palettes (Six eyeshadow palette)

Eyeshadow Palettes (Big palettes)

3. Eyeliner: give something extra to the look. Most common are black, brown, blue, plum, natural and white, there are many colors to choose from. Different finishes: matte, shimmer, satin, metallic. It can be liquid or cream and come as a pencil, marker, gel, liquid with an applicator or wand, among others.
Where to apply? Most of the eyeliner can be apply over the upper lashes roots (wing is optional). On the waterline most commonly used on there are the cream ones in a pencil form.

Pencil Eyeliners

Eyeliner Markers

Liquid Eyeliners

Gel Eyeliners

4. Mascara: may provide length and volume, depending on the claims of the product/brand. Di
There are different colors: the most common is the black one.
You can find the regular formula or the waterproof one.
Where to apply? On the lashes. It is highly recommended use the waterproof mascara on the bottom lashes if you have watery eyes; if it's raining or you have an event and/or get emotional), use on both.

5. (False) Lashes: there are people that have short lashes or they simply like dramatic looks. But overall, falsies or false lashes are optional. The main reason is to give more volume and complete the eye look. They can be more natural or more "glamorous". Different types of lashes to choose from.

6. Brow: the brows are the frame of the face. Some people have very thin eyebrows, others have more bushy ones. The products can come in a pencil, gel, pommade or powder form. There are some techniques depending on the products to be used. It's often to pair any powder, cream formula with a brush (spooly or comb).
Where to apply? On the eyebrows and give them the desired form (for your face).

Lips:
1. Lipliner: prevent lipstick to bleed outside the lips. They can be paired to the lipstick or it can be transparent. Mostly found in a pencil form with a creamy formula.
Where to apply? Following the borders of the lips (or drawing a line slightly outside of them), some fill their lips with them as a base for the lipstick.

2. Lipstick: gives color to the lips. Can be found in a cream form or liquid when are single, they can be found like a palette too. Matte, satin, metallic, are some of the finishes. Some are long-lasting.
Where to apply? On the lips.

(Cream) Lipsticks

Lip Crayons

Liquid Lipsticks

Lip palettes

3. Lip Gloss/ Lip Topper: gives some shine to the lips without giving much color (just some tint to it).
Where to apply? On the lips, alone or over another lipstick or liquid lipstick.

Those are all, or almost all the items or products you can find. The brands will add to the formulas things to make them different from other brands.
I hope you enjoyed this topic. In a future topic I will talk about what you "need" to start your makeup kit.

Thanks a lot. See you in the next post, which it'll be about makeup tools.
PS: I don't own the pictures.
